May Wrap Up

Riding calibration continues – throughout this month I’ve implemented more little fixes with the goal of making riding feel more natural, and for training to progress at a reasonable rate. It’s a constant process though, as this is one of the most fiddly and complex aspects of the game.

Sold horses now go to “sold” folder and stay in the pedigree. Previously, sold horses were deleted from the game. This is leftover from the online version where “Export” was needed to clean up the server and keep the game from flooding with low-stat horses no one intended to keep.

User interface improved with color highlights, on-screen tips and currency updates. The notebook also got an upgrade; it now shows the location of quest givers. These might all be minor things but can be quite time-consuming to apply across the whole game!

The paddock limit has been upped to 10, and foals no longer take up space. That means a paddock can technically hold 20 horses if you have mares with foals, but you won’t be able to add more after the limit of 10 has been reached.

Sparkles have been added for horse level-up and foal birth. The pink riding checkpoints are due for an upgrade.

The horse was refactored completely to make addition of animations and tack much easier. The community has contributed tons of suggestions for colors that will be added to tack soon!

Thanks so much to everyone who has given Tobiano a chance, and thanks so much to the fantastic community on Discord!

    1. As soon as the base game is ready I will start working on iOS, it should be pretty quick after that. It’s hard to say exactly when the base game will be done but I have a countdown of features on the discord if you want to follow along

  1. Hi! Please fix the training problem… my training gets deleted when I change location, go into shop or something… I’d love to train my horses by myself but it’s just frustrating when it constantly disappears and I just end up training them via menu panel 🙁

    1. Hi! The main way to save training right now is to put away the horse, but I have been working on a fix that will save training before travel. You can try to dismount before travel to save, I think that might be working right now. Thanks for reporting!
